A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and AVW Global on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 hinting to the possible return of MotoGP and the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), back to the country at the Buddh International Circuit.
AVW Global partnership boosts India’s bid for MotoGP comeback
AVW Global is a motorsport events and advisory company founded by former MotoGP rider Karel Abraham and by signing an MoU with them, India has taken a major step towards reviving top-tier motorcycle racing in the country.

Abraham highlighted India’s importance as the world’s largest motorcycle market, saying the initiative will not only bring high-speed racing back to Indian soil but also help nurture young local talent for future international competition.
The Buddh International Circuit, which previously hosted a MotoGP round and other international motorsport events, is expected to be the main venue for the races. While exact dates are yet to be finalised, Ron Hogg, Promotions Director, Two Wheels Motor Racing, said, “We are delighted to be represented by AVW Global in India. It is a significant market with deeply passionate fans, and we look forward to racing here as early as July-August, 2026.”
Focus on tourism, jobs and global motorsport profile
The agreement seeks to develop a strong motorcycle racing environment in the state, taking advantage of the rising interest in motorsport among Indian fans. Officials said the emphasis will be on organising international events in a well-planned and sustainable manner, which could help draw large crowds, sponsors and fresh investment.
Authorities believe the move will support tourism, generate employment and improve facilities in and around the circuit. Bringing established championships such as MotoGP and the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) back to India is also seen as part of a larger plan to project Uttar Pradesh as an important destination on the global motorsport map.
Further discussions and planning are expected to continue in the coming months as stakeholders work toward firming up the racing calendar.
